Learning To Lean On Jesus
Hey there, friends. Before we get into today’s message, I’d love for you to join me in prayer for Thomas and two of our boys, Eli and Israel, as well as Thomas’s sister, Tori, and our brother-in-law, Matt. They are headed to Lakeland, FL, to minister with Roy Fields at the Believer’s Gathering. We believe they will experience a powerful move of God, so let’s cover them in prayer today.
As I sat down to write, I honestly had no idea what to say. The Lord hadn’t given me a specific word yet, but He had told me to sit and write. Still unsure, I did something I rarely do—I searched the internet for inspiration. Within moments, I knew it wasn’t there. As I clicked away from the page, I heard the Lord speak: “Learning to lean.”
I had written about this before, and my first thought was to find that old email and resend it. But as I searched, I felt the Lord nudging me to write something fresh, straight from His heart.

Why Leaning is Hard
Leaning on others is not something that comes naturally to me. Some might call me a control freak. Others might say perfectionist. The truth is, when I’m responsible for getting something done, I don’t always trust others to do it the “right” way. I don’t trust that they share my vision, my level of care, or my urgency. I worry they might forget, cut corners, or simply not follow through.
And if we’re honest, many of us have felt this way—not just about people, but about God.
We want to hand over control. We want to trust Him with our children, finances, and health. We want to believe He will guide us, heal us, and provide for us. But do we truly trust Him enough to lean on Him for these things?
The Power of Leaning on God
Why do we lean? We lean to hold something up. We lean because we’re tired. We lean to see more clearly. We lean to get out of the way.
Imagine if, every time we leaned, we leaned on God.
When life is falling apart and the walls feel like they’re caving in, we lean on God.
When we are weary and need to take the weight off, we lean on God.
When the future is uncertain and we can’t see past the obstacle, we lean on God.
When life throws darts at us, we lean on God.

It’s Time to Lean
Friends, it’s time to stop carrying the weight of this world on your own shoulders. It’s time to stop walking this path alone. It’s time to set aside fear and distrust and let God carry you through this season.
Lean on Him. Let Him carry your weight. Let Him walk you to the finish line. You do not have to do this alone. You were never meant to.
It’s time to lean.
