When You Find Yourself in the Pit Again | Finding Strength in God
Have you ever had one of those days where you just feel off? Things don’t go the way they should. You make mistakes that you shouldn’t have made. You may even say things you shouldn’t have said and now you’re left feeling like you are in a pit that you can’t climb out of. And to make matters worse, it begins to rain.
You are left scrambling to get out of the pit before the water fills up over your head, but you keep slipping and are getting weary and tired from trying. You have no strength left, so in your collapse you begin to cry and call out to God. You begin to pray with everything you have left and suddenly the rain stops. The sky clears, and as the golden rays begin to gleam upon the pit you are in, you can see where the rain has washed away some roots leaving you with a ladder leading to the top.
You begin to climb, thanking God with every step, and when you get out you fall to the ground with gratitude and thankfulness. God has rescued you again. He came through like He always does.
But what happens when you find yourself in that pit again? What happens when you go through the same routine? Will He rescue you? Will you cry out to Him? Or will you curse Him for letting you fall again?

Friends, we are faced with hard choices every day. We are faced with challenges that feel like they will take us out. The Bible says in this life there will be trials. You don’t fall because God wants you to hurt. Not at all. The trials you face in life are to strengthen you.
Romans 5:3 says: “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”
God will never leave you stranded. He is sovereign and He is just. He loves you and He cares for you. He will lead you, teach you, and walk with you, but you have to do the climbing. You have to listen for Him. You have to be obedient to His leading. You have to let Him be your rescuer.

That can be so hard when we feel like we are in the fight for our life. But friend, God holds your life in His hand. It’s time to stop fighting to keep it in yours. Let Him be your rescuer today. Let Him pull you out of that pit.
Can I pray for you today?
A Prayer for You
Dear Lord,
I pray for my friends. I pray that You calm their anxious hearts and ease their weary minds. I pray that You fill them with Your love and Your peace. I pray that You give them the strength to climb when You say climb. I pray You comfort their hearts and heal the broken places. Lord, You are good and Your goodness is everlasting. Thank You for being present today and every day.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
