You Don’t Need Their Approval | Accepted in the Beloved

August 28, 20253 min read

Have you ever worn yourself out trying to be liked?

I have. For years, I chased after people’s approval, not realizing I was struggling with a spirit of rejection. But when I discovered how deeply I am accepted by my Abba, everything changed. I no longer “needed” anyone’s approval. Looking back, I see how exhausting it was to shape myself into what others wanted instead of resting in who I already am, loved and accepted by my Creator.

The Trap of People Pleasing

The truth is, striving to be someone else always leads to inauthentic living. You end up performing, doing what you think people will like or applaud, instead of simply being yourself. That is no way to live. Be released from that in Jesus’ name! Authenticity may feel difficult at first, especially if you have drifted into old patterns, but it is far lighter than pretending. And here is the gift: when you realize God accepts the real you, you can finally rest.

Even when you struggle with your flesh.

Freedom in God’s Acceptance

So be who YOU were uniquely created to be. Get comfortable in your own skin because God loves you as you are, flaws and all. His love and acceptance will do the transforming work in you. Give yourself a break, you cannot fix yourself anyway! Remember this: your Father has already accepted you. IT IS WRITTEN. His promise over you is sealed. Receive His acceptance and know this, you were worth dying for. You are deeply loved and highly valued.

The Treasure of You

Jesus illustrated this in a story: a man found a treasure hidden in a field and sold everything he had to buy that field. That man was Jesus. The treasure is you. (Matthew 13:44, KJV↗︎)

If you have been struggling to feel valuable, hear this, God wants you to know how much He treasures you. That has been the love story all along. He loved us first, even before time began.

Write This Truth on Your Heart

So write this truth on your heart. The next time you feel tempted to change who you are for someone’s acceptance, remember: you may want their approval, but you do not need it. You already have the acceptance of the One who matters most.

Ephesians 1:6 (KJV)↗︎: "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."

From Abba…

There is a sound I love, a sound that turns my eyes toward you. A sound that draws me close. It echoes through heaven and fills me with joy. Every time I hear it, I am reminded of that first moment when I looked at all I had made and said, “It is good.”

That sound is when you call my name. When you say, “Abba,” I say, “YES, my child.” I say yes and amen to whatever you ask in my name according to my will. When you call me Father, I call you my own. You are wanted. You are mine. You are so deeply loved.

I AM here. Call my name...
